Last Hurrah!

This is our last day here. Tonight we will pack up and bright and early in the morning we will head to the airport. We fly first to Denver and then, to the holy city. It is 52 degrees here in Salt Lake City. I understand that it is hot at home. We are not looking forward to the heat and humidity of the low country.
Was our time here productive? I would say so. Found proof for most of the stuff Henry and I found. And found some extras in the Dorkewitz line. Susan found lots of stuff and is planning on returning maybe next year.

It is a beautiful area but I miss the low country and all its splendor. Can’t wait to get home.

Day 4

It is our fourth day here and it is very cool...like in the 50’s out there and breezy. I see it is hot at home. We have found lots of data. I have gotten my Andrews line back to 1660. The Sharp line has taken me back to 1833. The McDonald line is back to the 1800’s. The Friend line back to the 1800’s. It is slow going. Many countries did not start formal record keeping until the 1800’s like Ireland. Some of the dates dealing with the Sharps are wrong. In one instance I have a relative about which I can find very little except her birthdate and her mother’s and daughter’s names. The only bit of info I found recorded in her birthplace of Ireland is a possible prison sentence of hard labor for stealing somthing. I don’t know if she is that person or not. Only time and further research will tell. So here is an Irish blessing for you!

Had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. We both really enjoyed our meal. Brought back some cheesecake for supper. Tomorrow we will work on Henry’s German relatives.

Shopping

We went to the City Creek for shopping. Found lots of stores on two levels. Had lunch at the food court. Shopped at Macy's. And bought some sweets at the chocolate shop.  Hope to do  some more in the next day or two.

Frustrated

Today was a day of frustration as with the help of three experts we could not find any information about our great, great, great grandparents. I have emailed my cousin in Atlanta to see if I can get a copy of the page in the family bible where the data came from. I hope she can...I have my fingers crossed.

It’s a Beautiful Morning

It promises to be a gorgeous day here in Salt Lake. Looking forward to doing some more investigation of family trees. Hope to resolve the date for those Scottish relatives. Did look at my cousin’s tree last night. Man, there are lots of ancestors from Spain. Maybe I can get the hot skinny on them!

Day 1

Day 1 was great. Found some interesting things about several family members. One of our grandfathers married for the second time after his first wife died. His second wife was 20 years younger...imagine that!!!! And this couple had another whole bunch of kids. I saw a copy of my Grandfather Sharp's military draft card. And I found a bunch of death certificates. I did find errors in my uncles' family history. Gonna have to figure out some date errors because my great grandfather just couldn't have been born before his son. So there is something not quite right with those dates.

Salt Lake

We made it to Salt Lake City. It is hot and it is very windy. The hotel room is very nice. Susan found a grocery store not far and we bought some colas and water and fruit. Can't wait to get started tomorrow.
